“Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going.”

Indonesia is an archipelagic country with a population of about 237 million (BPS 2010), with cultural diversity spreading from Sabang to Merauke. All existing ethnic cultures are recorded in their respective local languages. However, based on a recent study by Siregar, I. (2022), 700 existing local languages predicted the extinction to reach 50% within 100 years and will increase over time.

We are inviting you to join this project by digitising Indonesia’s local languages using our platform: ragambahasa.id
